Upon growing up and enter “womanhood” we are asked to leave all pink, frills, ruffles, and tutus behind us and move on to the cold, severe, dramatic world of dressing. However, this season designers are breaking all the rules of “grown-up” dressing with flounces and frills galore. Done in a more sophisticated and sexy way than your childhood ruffles, this trend is sure to start popping up everywhere during the sultry months, so here’s a few wallet-friendly options to get a head start on the new fashions.

Get cute and flirty at spring dances and summer weddings with a ruffled dress. Nothing is more romantic than a cream or pastel, tiered ruffle dress paired with dainty gold heels. Use a bright pink clutch to liven up your pink dress, and a spiked ring to keep it from being too sweet. Swipe on dark berry lipstick and you have the perfect combo of confidence and cuteness. For the gold dress, use a blue bag with gold accents to add a pop to the outfit, and red lipstick to make sure you stick out. With these glamorous outfits, you’ll be anything but a frilly wallflower.

Take this trend to your summer internship with a classic pencil skirt, redone with a retro flounce. Keep the rest of the looks simple, with a color blocked button-down, black pumps, and a big black bag for all of your notes. Make your casual look trendy and fab with ease by pairing this striped, ruffled skirt with a hip denim button-down. Wear these cute oxford-inspired flats and gold jewelry to polish off your cool summer look.

I can already tell this is going to be a favorite trend of many, so go for it and have fun while styling! And remember, don’t be afraid to be fabulous!
