Okay, so it got kinda cold again, but at least we’re consistently out of the 30s, right? While thinking about sheer, easy-breezy, short, and flowing clothes may not be very relevant, in a month or so (God willing) you’ll be prepared for the sun to finally come out and stay out. What better place to look for summer fashion inspiration than Coachella, where it was sunny and warm all day everyday, and chic boho and indie styles reigned supreme. While actually going to Coachella is not in every fabulous poor girl’s budget, dressing like you went is possible for anyone and everyone. Here are a few inspirations and ideas:
Take this easy-breezy look out for a spin to the beach or just around town. The more poor girl-friendly version:
Take a colorful maxi skirt with a big print and pair it with a simple white tee, layered over a striped bikini (you never know when you’re gonna wanna take a dip in the pool). After that, all you need are some cool white wedges and colorful bangles – and some cool shades, of course.
Go for a more streamline version of cool with a matching top and bottom in bright prints. Keep the rest neutral but fun, like Bernheim did here.
Use another big trend, polk dots, to create a fun match-y look. Add neutral wedges and fun colored sunglasses. Throw on more bangles for good measure – you can never have enough in the spring and summer months!
White out when it’s bright out, and channel your inner rocker girl.
Pair a white crop top with a white maxi skirt (the crop top on the left is Alexander Wang, for $50! Go to shop.harpersbazaar.com) and add some grunge effect with black gladiators and a black bag. Accessorize with spikey bangles (what else?) and a bad girl attitude (a la Spring Breakers – but really don’t).
Keep it cool and fly this summer and always remember – don’t be afraid to be fabulous!
