Frugal Feathers

Louis Vuitton, Fall 2013.

Obsessed does not begin to describe how I feel about the Louis Vuitton Fall 2013 looks. The drama, the glamour, the retro feel . . . all of it blew me away. Except for one part – the prices. What’s a fabulous poor girl to do? We all just want to channel our inner Hitchcock-retro girls at least once, don’t we?

Lo and behold, feathery visions that meet your sartorial needs and stay within your wallet’s limits exist! Hopped up on the grunge ’90s revival coming this fall? Take a feathery skirt and pair it with a slouchy sweater, then complete the look with low, menswear-inspired boots. Want a more girly approach to the fine animal texture? Try a dark and glamorous dress with tights and low-heeled booties and a richly colored feather ear cuff. The best part? Everything here is under $50. Now, that’s fabulous.

Trending Tuesday: Look Electric Cool in Electric Blue

From HarpersBazaar.com.

Taking some inspiration from the Cannes Film Festival street style, I put together a couple of outfits featuring electric blue and stark white. I love the high contrast, and it’s a more colorful alternative to graphic black and white for spring.

Keep it casual and cool with a cool blue crop top and white capri-length jeans. Add thick-soled sneakers and gold bangles to keep it edgy. Get a more girly look with a pretty, detailed top and white flares – pair with brown booties and a beaded bracelet to add a little country. Wear blue to a more formal outing with a blue bodysuit, worn with a white skater skirt over it. Add contrasting heels (with an ankle strap for bonus trendy points!) and a gold chain necklace to keep it elegant with a modern twist.
