Trending Tuesday: Cropped Delights

Just when you think global warming has messed everything so much that you’ll never see your favorite season again, the sun suddenly pops out and it’s 80 degree weather. So how do you beat this heat? With a little ’90s revival known as: the crop top. Yes, it’s scary, and yes, a lot of trashy celebs wear them in the absolute worst ways. But there are a few ways to rock this look without looking like a paler version of Snooki.

Possibly the easiest way to pull it off: a high-waisted skirt and a tie crop top. The tie makes it look less deliberate, and the high-waisted skirt covers more skin so that you don’t look as… college girls on spring break. Wear with cute sandals and a graphic clutch to make it a little more modern.

While this look is a bit more risqué, the baggy boyfriend jeans and cool cardigan save the tight, white, crop top turtleneck from being too much. This look is almost granny chic, with a little bit of sexy thrown in. Add lace tennis shoes and gold, classic bangles to add a little flair.

Finally, you can layer a crop top over a dress. Take a simple, strapless dress that you want to wear more, but can’t make work for class or casual looks. Throw on a simple crop top, a lacy tank for a more girly look, or a gray cropped tee to give your look a sporty edge. Wear with neutral flats or cute printed wedges. Add a printed, bright clutch to make it a little more chic, and throw on a big cuff to complete the perfect spring look.

Crop tops CAN be your friends, if you use them wisely. So don’t be afraid and throw one on – you’ll be lookin’ fabulous!
